Granada Films Shut

Following the recent untimely demise of FilmFour, the decision by Granada TV to shut down its films division is another body blow to the british film industry. Ironically the decision comes at a time when the company has been enjoying a run of success with such critical favs as The House of Mirth, Ghost World and Bloody Sunday, which won the best film prize at Berlin this year. The company had high hopes for The Gathering, a horror movie starring Christina Ricci, which marked its biggest investment to date, and it was planning to produce Mira Nair's imminent adaption of Vanity Fair.
